There is no fixed theme for November's blogging on NaBloPoMo so no excuse not to get started on it. I do think that I will keep to my main theme on this blog, which is books and reading. But I do have to make a post a day, which is something I am definitely not used to. It is going to be fun to see if I can make it.My first post is about a competition which the large Danish Publishers Gyldendal just announced. This competition is about writing the best crime novel for kids between 8 and 12. There is a prize of 100.000 Danish Kroner (which equals about 17.130 USD) for the winner, plus of course the honor of actually being published (and hopefully sell a ton of books).
Crime/thrillers/mysteries are becoming increasingly popular in Denmark and the thought from Gyldendal, the publishers, are, that when adults read more and more books from those genres, this also has an impact on kids, who will be eager to read the same genres, but of course modified to fit this age-group.
Participants must 1) write a complete manuscript 2) write two summaries for two books to come and 3) write a concept for a whole series.
And it is not only the publishers who look into the stack of manuscripts bound to be written in the coming months. Also the national filmmakers at Nordisk Film are going to have a look at the hopeful writer's works.
Last chance to send in your work (in Danish) is September 1, 2009.

Thanks for entering me giveaway too, I liked reading why you came back to book blogging, I think those stories are interesting. Where are you studying for your MA, and what are you going to use it for when you get it?

Hi Kim,
Thanks a lot for your comment. Yes, the books for the contest are going to be published in Danish, but if they are hugely succesfull, no doubt international publishers will buy the books for publishing in their countries. Are you considering writing one ;-)
