Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays are hosted by MizB at Should be Reading, where you can also check out other blogger's links to their Teaser Tuesdays-posts.
The rules are simple:

Grab your current read.
Let the book fall open to a random page.Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
Please avoid spoilers!
Here is my teaser:

I gathered that it hadn't been there long, but in spite of its newness, and in spite of its clever display in the windows (towers of ballpoints, pencils, and rulers arranged to suggest the New York skyline) the Paper Palace looked to small to contain much of interest.

The teaser is from p. 3 of Oracle Night by Paul Auster.

I've got Oracle Night on my TBR list, and I'm hoping to get to it this year. Never read any Paul Auster, but this one sounds intriguing. Nice teaser!

I haven't heard of that book yet - thanks for the teaser!

Here's my Teaser!

Hi, Lou! I'd like to ask you about something. Could you please send me an email at cathyskye@yahoo.com when you get a chance? Thanks!

jlshall: I'm halfway through Oracle Night and enjoying it a lot. I haven't read all Paul Auster's works by any means, but am relatively familiar with his works and he is definitely one of my favorite authors, but I readily agree that he is not for all. I hope you get to Oracle Night this year on your TBR :-)

Wendi - you're welcome :-)

Cathy - will contact you right away.

I really like the understatement of your teaser. It certainly makes me want to read the book.
And Paul Auster is good, of course. Have you read the New York Trilogy (I think the first part is so great).

Thanks Dorte - yes, I've read The New York Trilogy and it is one of my favorite books :-)

Wordless Wednesday: I think is this what I did to join:

I posted a photo.

Then I went over and entered my post on Mr. Linky at the WW site. I did *not* fill in the WW participant check box.

Then I went and filled out the form here: http://www.wordlesswednesday.com/more/blogroll.php and checked the button that says "yes I'm active participant"

I think that's all I did. I've been doing WW since the fall.

I didn't have any problems. I think Marny (Marny the Bookworm; from Germany) signed up recently. I don't think she had problems.

Me again. After that first time, I started clicking the box that says "wordless wednesday participant" -- it was only the first time that I left it blank.

Oh, thanks Beth, I guess that is where I went wrong. I tried to sign up and had to check the box called "not active yet" and the automated reply came back saying something abrupt. I will join in next Wednesday and just post an image, I think and then fill out the form and call myself an active user. Thanks again :-)

That's what I did and it worked!
