Happy New Year & Welcome to 2010

Happy New Year to all and a big welcome to 2010.

I am looking forward to begin a new year and happy to put the old one behind me. The last half of 2009 wasn't that great. Among other things I lost a close friend, who died of cancer, and shortly before Christmas my father died totally unexpectedly. Added to that, it was a hell of time at work during those last weeks of December, and now I am sitting here looking at the dreary January sky with a massive cold making me feel stuffed and slightly depressed. So GOODBYE 2009 and a warm welcome to 2010. It can only get better.

Don't want to make this a too depressed post, so I hasten to add that the first part of 2009 was great. I finished my Master's Degree at university, got a good job (and a new job description later), I went travelling with family and I read a lot of good books! I also met so many new friends in the book blogging community and I am grateful for all your well wishes and messages. Thanks again. It means a lot.

My father's death meant that I haven't really had the time or energy to blog or be much online. I had a lot of things planned for the last week's of the year, but I guess I will have to plan and make those things happen in January instead. I am sorry I haven't been round visiting and commenting. That will improve over the next weeks as well.

Until then, I wish you all a very Happy New Year and I look forward to see you all :-D

You have had a lot to cope with, and I sincerely wish 2010 will be a much better year for you.

And I am absolutely sure your blog friends will be back as soon as they see you are around again.

I am so sorry to hear about your father. My thoughts are with you and your family right now. We had a similar year, as my nan died suddenly in February and then we lost hubby's dad in November. I must admit to be glad to see the back of 2009 and I am hoping that 2010 is going to be out of this world.

Sorry to hear about the unexpected loss of your father. My thoughts are with you.

I always think we are lucky here in the southern hemisphere that the new year happens in summer - although it might be stinking hot at least we can start the year off in bright sunshine which has to be easier than trying to be all positive when the weather is gloomy. I hope you get a bit of non gloomy weather and that 2010 is a good year for you.

Lou, I'm so sorry for the loss of your father and your friend. I also apologize as I think I contacted you about Rosie's Riveters, completely blanking on all the difficulties in your life. Please forgive me. I hope 2010 is a good year for you. All my best.

Thanks Aarti, but I don't mind the Rosie Riveter post - and I did mail you back. I hope you got it :-D

Here's to a cheerier 2010 for all of us. I am so sorry to hear about your father. Readjusting to your new way of life may take some time, but be patient and kind to yourself. You'll find yourself with feet back on the ground and a clearer head when the time is right.

So long 2009, and welcome 2010!!!
